It's built with solid bamboo; it has two tapas (1/8” oak ply) for two different playing surfaces.
One side is screwed on with the corners left unscrewed for slap sound, and the other side is glued on for more of a flamenco sound.
Built to give the musician a versatile range of style and rhythm to customize to their liking; with deep bass, high slap sounds.

'Cajones are primarily played in Afro-Peruvian music, as well as contemporary styles of flamenco and jazz among other genres.
